Business Enterprise Support Limited (BES) is a company limited by guarantee, which has been registered as a local enterprise agency since 1983 although it was not until 1997 that the company repositioned itself as BES.

Our mission is to promote, develop and enable an enterprising culture and our vision is To be recognised as a leading innovator of enterprise.

BES holds quality and continuous improvement at the forefront of all of its business systems. Our business systems incorporate a range of recognised standards which includes Matrix, Investor in People, the principles of the Adult Learning Inspectorate Common Inspection Framework (ALI), and EFQM, all of which are driven by a system operated through ISO 9001:2000. Following our ALI inspection in 2004, BES had the distinction of being awarded the highest level of grade one, being one of only two self-employment providers to hold this grade in the Country. As part of our continuous improvement policy, we have recently achieved the Customer First standard.

Our services are delivered through a range of funding from Business Link, Learning & Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus, Connexions and Local Authorities and programmes are aimed at the specific needs of clients dependent upon their current skills knowledge and abilities. A brief description of these activities and programmes are detailed below:

Self employment awareness sessions delivered locally
Business planning training workshops
1:1 advice service in starting a business
1:1 online mentoring service
Information Advice and Guidance on Careers (including CV's interview techniques, job applications etc)
Support for BaME residents on self employment and business development
Burton Entrepreneurs Business Forum for local BaME businesses
Support for those starting or developing a business within the Food and Drink sector
NVQ's.

Programmes include specific support for those from the most deprived areas within East Staffordshire

BES is also the Centre of Excellence in Enterprise Development and Business Support, providing a full development support service for business advisors within the West Midlands. This inlcudes SFEDI Accreditation.
